If this repair works I will gladly return the mitre box to active duty in my workshop. It won't be completely original but that's not everything. Fixing a tool is saving it from the landfill and that in my opinion is very important - even more critical in our current 'throw-away-society'.
The ability to repair these old tools is a big reason why they endure so long after manufacture.
