Stanley 50 1/2 Mitre Box

This mitre box was made by the Canadian division of Stanley Tools. The 50 1/2 model appears to be more rare according to my scouring of tool websites and the like. A bad fall last summer took care of the rear saw guide post rendering the mitre box out of commission. Finding replacement parts for this model is discouraging enough to warrant a repair of my own design.

If this repair works I will gladly return the mitre box to active duty in my workshop. It won't be completely original but that's not everything. Fixing a tool is saving it from the landfill and that in my opinion is very important - even more critical in our current 'throw-away-society'.

The ability to repair these old tools is a big reason why they endure so long after manufacture.

I am currently working on a repair for this broken part. Stay tuned...
